No. 17 Corban Sweeps the Eagles

SALEM, Ore. – No. 17 Corban University used late scoring to secure the sweep for the weekend. The Warriors scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the first game 1-0. In the second game, the Warriors found themselves behind 5-3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Warriors found a way to bring in three runs for the 6-5 victory.

Game One: Northwest University 0, Corban University 1
Today's game was without a doubt a battle between the two Rachels in the pitching circle. Rachel Hawley of Northwest University threw six innings, allowing five hits, one run, two walks, and five strikeouts. Rachel White of Corban University threw seven innings, allowing only one hit, zero runs, two walks, and eight strikeouts. Both Rachels set their teams up for success and provided the opportunity for either team to walk away with the win.
Northwest's only hit came in the fourth inning when Sam Parisio hit a double to right center. The Warriors buckled down, closed out the inning, and did not allow any Eagles' runners to reach third base the entire game. In the top of the seventh inning, it looked promising, as the Eagles had runners on first and second base with no outs. Again, the Warriors found a way to get out of the inning and secure another one-run victory.

Game two: Northwest University 5, Corban University 6
After the first three conference games of low scoring and great pitching, it was time for the bats to come alive. The fourth game, a non-conference matchup in the series, had more runs than the other three games combined. Carly Tighe and Jordan Dippel led the Eagles, hitting two for three. Tighe brought in two RBI's, while Dippel brought in one RBI. Alexis Contreras and Carly Tighe each had homeruns, putting the Eagles in an early lead. Once again, the Warriors found a way to finish strong, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim another Corban win.
