KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University opens the men's soccer season Saturday at 3 p.m., taking on University of the Fraser Valley in the only home game for the Eagles until Sept. 27.

Northwest hopes to rebound from a 4-9-3 campaign last year and relies on a blend of fresh faces and returning talent.

Travis Jordan holds the honor of being the top-returning scorer from last season when he found the net six times and added two assists for 14 points. Four other goal-scorers from 2018 are expected to see action Saturday as well: Lucas Mota, Leon Bormann, Peyton Gunhus and Joey Starr.

The Eagles scored 1.19 goals per match last season and hope to improve on that number this season.

Fraser Valley comes in at 0-1 after a 2-1 loss at the Evergreen State College in Olympia on Wednesday. Manpal Brar had the lone goal for the Cascades, who finished 2018 with an 11-10-2 mark.

After Saturday's contest, the Eagles hit the road for the next six games prior to a four-game home stand that starts Sept. 27.
