Women's Soccer Opens Sunday in Canada

KIRKLAND, Wash. – (Game Notes) Northwest University opens its women's soccer season on the road Sunday, visiting Fraser Valley for a 5 p.m. start in Abbottsford, British Columbia.
 
Coach Bryan Chud's Eagles enter the season after an NAIA quarterfinal appearance last season. NU, ranked 20th in the NAIA preseason poll, finished last year at 13-9-2.
 
Rylee Rassier is the top returning scorer from last year. She scored seven goals and had two assists for 16 points.
 
Kat Sanchez returns in goal for NU after registering a goals-against average of 1.26 with 85 saves last season.
 
Fraser Valley is 1-1 on the season after losing to Eastern Washington 6-2 and defeating Idaho 2-1 in a pair of road games. Bryana Buttar and Simi Lehal had a goal apiece against EWU.
 
Northwest opens the home side of the schedule Saturday, Aug. 24, opposite Central Washington at 3:30 p.m.
