KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest starts a string of six contests away from home Saturday, visiting Simpson University in Redding, California.
Â
The game begins at 10 a.m.
Â
The Eagles opened with a 2-1 home loss to Fraser Valley and won't return to the home pitch until Sept. 27.
Â
Freshmen featured strongly in the opener, with
Tyler Hopp launching four shots,
Alexander Thiehofe collecting four saves, and
Justin Harden and
Jacob Moon getting the lone goal and save, respectively.
Â
Northwest last played Simpson in 2016, with the Eagles scoring a 4-0 win in Redding. In that game, a freshman named
Jordan Travis scored his second collegiate goal. It was the second in a string of three games in which Travis, now a senior captain, found the back of the net and helped NU to a 5-0 start to the season.
Â
Simpson opened its season Wednesday at Oregon Tech, falling 4-2. The Red Hawks were 6-11 last season but won their last four regular season games. The team lost its top four scorers from a year ago.
