REDDING, Calif. – Simpson scored in the seventh minute of the second overtime to spoil the first leg of Northwest's six-game road swing Saturday.

"We had our chances early on," said NU Head Coach Gary McIntosh. "We missed some golden opportunities to give us a lead, but that's the game of soccer. Sometimes they go in, and sometimes they don't. We have to continue to work and get better."

After a scoreless first half, Jordan Travis put the Eagles on the scoreboard in the 71st minute, taking an assist from Gian Herrera.

Daniel Rodriguez supplied the equalizer for Simpson with 5:46 remaining in regulation. Alexis Rodriguez got the game-winner with 3:06 left in the second overtime.

Northwest had 15 shots and six shots on goal, with Peyton Gunhus getting three of the shots and two shots on goal to lead the team.

Brandon Karberg started in goal and had three saves before giving way to Noah Roberts at halftime. Roberts made five saves.

The Eagles (0-2) continue their six-game road swing with two more California contests in two weeks. NU plays at Pacific Union Friday, Sept. 6, at 4 p.m. and at Cal State Maritime at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7.
