Eagles Capture Road Win at Northwest Nazarene

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest found its way to the win column, recording a 2-1 win at Northwest Nazarene Saturday.

The Nighthawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute, but Callie Wright scored her first collegiate goal to even the score. She beat one defender and put the goal upper left in the 42nd minute.

That score held up for just over 40 minutes until Rylee Rassier stepped up and buried a penalty kick with 7:21 showing on the second-half clock.

"I am extremely proud of the girls today," commented NU Head Coach Bryan Chud. "We faced a lot of adversity, but we played with discipline, intensity, and desire and were well-deserving of the win. Defensively, we were superb. Offensively, Callie scored a fantastic solo goal, and Rylee tucked away her PK after a fantastic team move. We will continue to build off of this and look to be better next week."

The Eagles out-shot their hosts 11-9, with Wright taking six shots and putting four of those on frame.

The Nighthawks had four shots on goal, and NU's Kat Sanchez logged three saves.

Now 1-2, the Eagles get on the road again Sept. 7 with a trip to Tacoma to take on Puget Sound at 1 p.m. NU then plays at Lewis and Clark College in Portland on Sept. 11.
