Eagles Rally for Exhibition Win

KIRKLAND – Northwest scored a 3-2 exhibition win over Seattle Pacific Saturday in the first home competition of the season.

The Eagles play their home opener Friday, Sept. 13, against Corban, making the first counting home match serve also as its first home conference match.

"It's always good to win, even if it's not a counting match," remarked NU Coach Steven Bain. "They're a really good team. If nothing else, it confirmed to our team that we can compete at a high level."

After falling 25-19 in the first set, the Eagles traded 25-16 sets with the Falcons before evening sets at two apiece with a 25-14 victory.

NU scored the first five points of the fifth set, but the Falcons rallied to tie it, 10-10. The Eagles responded with five of the next six points to seal the win.

Northwest spends next weekend in Portland to open the Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule. The Eagles play at Warner Pacific at 7 p.m. Friday, and at Multnomah at 5 p.m. Saturday.
