KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest, after eight matches on the road, hosts its home opener this weekend with 11th-ranked Corban visiting Friday and Northwest Christian coming in on Saturday.

The Eagles share the top spot in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with Corban, Southern Oregon, and Evergreen State--all at 2-0. Corban earned CCC Team of the Week honors for their 2-0 start, which included a win over No. 10 Eastern Oregon.

Northwest went 0-3 last season against Corban, losing the regular-season matchups both in four sets before being swept at Corban in the postseason.Â

NU has won eight of the last 10, including both matches last season, against Northwest Christian. After winning 3-1 at home, the Eagles claimed a 3-2 win in Eugene.Â

Abi Broussard leads the team and is 28th nationally with 1.10 blocks per game. She is fifth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The Eagles are fourth in blocks per set in the CCC. She also is second in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with a .289 attack percentage. She has 74 kills this season.Â

Cristina Hegarty is 37th in the NAIA with 5.28 digs per game. Hegarty ranks second in the CCC.Â

Courteney Carr leads Northwest in assists per game at 7.8, which ranks her fifth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference in assists per game.

Tatiana Ensz are ninth and 10th in the Cascade Collegiate Conference in aces per set and have 12 aces apiece.Â

Hannah Lord leads NU with 2.59 kills per game, followed closely by Abi Broussard at 2.39. Northwest averages 11.06 kills per game.Â

Corban is 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference with home wins over the College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon. Cassie Cunningham leads the CCC with 3.5 kills per set. Kealani Ontai is fifth in the league at 4.4 digs per game and is the defending CCC Defensive Player of the Week.

The Beacons, who first visit Evergreen State Friday, are 8-3 overall and 0-2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference after a pair of home heartbreakers, 3-2, to Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho. NCU is eighth nationally with 92 aces. Claire Salness leads the team with 2.9 kills per set and is fourth in the conference. Makenna Northern leads the league with 8.8 assists per game.
