Eagles Blank Linfield, 3-0

KIRKLAND – Northwest got a pair of goals from Callie Wright and extended its winning streak to four matches Saturday with a 3-0 win over Linfield.

After a scoreless first half, the Eagles broke onto the scoreboard with a goal off an Olivia Morris free kick in the 69th minute. Morris' shot cleared the wall of LC defenders and made it perfectly into the upper right net.

Wright took an assist from Madison Morrow and used an athletic move to stun the LC keeper for a 2-0 lead in the 78th minute.

A corner kick by Stephanie Wilson was tapped by Morrow to Wright, who put away the final goal with 44 seconds left in the match.

"I'm proud of the way we played today, primarily in the second half. We defended extremely well and moved the ball with confidence and efficiency," remarked NU Head Coach Bryan Chud.

Northwest finished with 29 shots and tested the Wildcat keeper 13 times, while Kat Sanchez needed just one save to collect the shutout win for the Eagles.

Wright had nine shots and put five of those on target.

Now 4-2 on the season, the Eagles turn their attention to the Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule with a trip to Montana next weekend.

"I'm really happy with how we have approached this preseason, and I feel we are playing well going into conference play," said Chud.

The Eagles play at Providence Friday at 1 p.m. in Great Falls and Carroll at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday in Helena.
