Eagles Clobber Caltech

SALEM, Ore. – Northwest takes a full head of steam into next week's Cascade Collegiate Conference opener after a 5-1 win against Caltech Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles carry forward a three-game winning streak after five different players scored in Sunday's final non-conference match. Northwest has scored 25 goals in its last three matches – all of which have been away from the home pitch.

Another four players Sunday recorded the team's four assists, giving points to nine different Eagles.

"I'm pleased with the way we played today," stated NU Head Coach Gary McIntosh. "We had good movement off the ball and showed a lot of patience. The team has progressed throughout pre-season, and we are right where we want to be headed into conference."

Elliot Misic got the game-winner in the ninth minute, using an assist from Jordan Travis.

Jacob Moon made it 2-0 in the 24th minute with an assist from Kyle Han. Payton Gunhus rounded out the first half scoring, using a feed from Kyler McIntosh in the 31st minute. The Eagles took a 3-0 lead into the half.

Justin Harden fed Jack Eberl for a goal in the 75th minute, and Joey Starr found the net four minutes later for NU's lone unassisted goal.

Caltech scored its goal with 3:53 left in the contest, bringing to a close NU's scoreless streak at 266 minutes.

Alexander Thiehofe picked up the win in goal with his scoreless first half without a save. Noah Roberts played the second half and posted one save.

NU launched 21 shots for the game, including 11 on goal. Misic led in both categories with seven shots and three shots on goal.

Now 3-2, the Eagles roll into Montana next weekend. NU plays Friday at 2:30 (Pacific) at Providence in Great Falls, followed by a 3 p.m. (Pacific) contest Sunday in Helena against Carroll.
