ASHLAND, Ore. – Northwest struggled to get its offense flowing in the first half and fell at Eastern Oregon Friday, 73-63.
Â
After shooting 39 percent from the field, the Eagles trailed 37-25 at the half. The Eagles scored 38 points in the second half but could not get enough stops to wrest the lead back from the Mountaineers.
Â
"It's hard to win on the road in this league," said NU Head Coach
Jeff Drinkwine. "Eastern did a very good job taking us out of our strengths. We had a tough shooting night. We need to find a way to bounce back tomorrow."
Â
Hussayn Ford registered another double-double to pad his national lead in that category with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Christian Hakilimali almost joined him with 20 points and nine rebounds. Ford was 9-10 and Hakilimali 7-14 from the field, but the rest of the Eagles shot 25 percent from the field for the night.
Â
Brandon Porter had 17 points to lead EOU.
Â
The Eagles are back in action Saturday night, taking on College of Idaho on the road in a 7:30 p.m. (Mountain time) contest.
