CALDWELL, Idaho – Northwest University bats came to life for nine runs in the second game, split with No. 15 College of Idaho Friday.

After dropping the first game 5-1, the Eagles bounced back for a 9-7 win.

"We hit the ball well in the second game, and it was super to get the win," said NU Head Coach
Pam Fink. "We got a glimpse of what we are capable of doing. There's room for improvement, but we're getting there."

NU sophomore
Jessica Nunes launched two home runs in the doubleheader.

Nunes hit a solo home run in the fourth inning of the opener, cutting the CI lead to 2-1 at the time.Â

Northwest had four hits in the game with
Sam Parisio,
Alexis Contreras, and
Ashley Oswald adding a single apiece.
Â
Rachel Hawley took the loss in the circle, gathering two strikeouts and holding the Yotes to three earned runs.

NU jumped on CI for five runs in the top of the first inning of the second game. Nunes belted a three-run home run, and the rally continued with a two-run single by
Nalomeli Memea with two outs, scoring Nichola Fish and Contreras.

The Yotes pulled to within 5-3 before the Eagles picked up a run in the fourth when Parisio followed up singles by
Abby Brake and
Jordan Dippel with a sacrifice fly.

Two more Eagles scored in the fifth when Fish and Gomes came around on a base hit by Memea.

Parisio walked and scored on a double by Nunes for a 9-3 lead in the sixth.

Brake picked up her first win of the season, with Hawley picking up the two-out save.

Northwest had nine hits in the game, including two each by Nunes, Fish, and Memea. Gomes, Brake, and Parisio added a single each.

The teams finish the series with an 11 a.m. doubleheader Saturday.
