Eagles Tame Wolves, 4-0

COLLEGE PLACE – Northwest completed a successful road trip on Sunday with a 4-0 win at Walla Walla.

The Eagles return home from a weekend that saw them pick up four points in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings. The win Sunday and Saturday's tie at Carroll moved NU into seventh place in the points standings.

"Anytime you can get four points on the road in the conference is good. This trip is tough on the players mentally," said NU Head Coach Gary McIntosh.

Brayden Corwin had a goal and two assists to lead the Eagles on Sunday.

Elliot Misic opened the scoring in the first half, picking up his fifth game winner of the season. The NU record for game-winning goals is six. Corwin got the assist on the goal, which Elliot placed over the head of the keeper in the sixth minute.

That one goal stood for the first half, but the Eagles poured it on in the last 15 minutes.

"We controlled the entire game but could only get the one goal in the first half. We made some adjustments at halftime and dominated the second half," McIntosh said.

Angel Ventura got the second goal, scoring after Corwin's second assist in the 76th minute.

Benjamin Banks-Forder, getting an assist from Seito Gao, scored to make it 3-0 just 42 seconds later. Corwin scored his goal to cap the scoring in the 77th minute.

"Our second goal was a beauty of a finish from Angel. Then the next two goals were great to get," McIntosh said. "We will rest up tomorrow and then get back to it on Tuesday as we prepare for another road trip to Salem and Eugene."

Alexander Thiehofe needed a single save to register the shutout in goal.

NU outshot its host 36-12, led by Misic with seven shots and Corwin with three. The Eagles had 13 shots on goal. Misic and Corwin had three shots on goal each, followed by Jack Eberl with two. Ventura, Banks-Forder, Kyler McIntosh, Frederik Marten, and Tyler Hopp tested the Wolves' keeper once each.

NU improved to 6-3-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the CCC. The Eagles wrap up the four-game road swing with a trip to Oregon next week, taking on Corban on Friday and Bushnell on Saturday.
