GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Providence used a 22-5 run in the second half to take control of a close game and knock off Northwest 81-68 on Saturday.
The Argos led 42-39 at the half and got its lead out to seven points early in the second half. A
Tanner Davis layup cut the lead to 54-52 with 13:23 to go in the game.
The Eagles kept up for the next three minutes but didn't get another field goal for six minutes as UP built a 76-57 lead. Northwest got no closer than 12 points from there.
"Montana is always a tough road trip," said NU Head Coach
Jeff Drinkwine. "Teams are very well-coached, and they play hard. This was a good learning experience for us."
CaCoa Chatman led the Eagles with 21 points.
Tanner Davis added 17 points, and
Connor Drinkwine added 12 points.
Chatman shared the rebound lead for the Eagles with
Daniel Sharpe at six. Davis and
Rayvaughn Bolton had three assists each.
The 1-2 Eagles return to the Kristi Brodin Pavilion on Tuesday to open Cascade Collegiate Conference action against Evergreen State.
