KIRKLAND – After opting out of the Covid-19 season last spring, Northwest is heading back to the postseason. The fifth-seeded Eagles take on No. 23 Bushnell in Eugene in Tuesday's quarterfinal round at 7 p.m.

Northwest is 18-11 in the all-time series with Bushnell. The teams divided the series this season, each winning on the opponent's home floor.

In the two matches with Bushnell,
Abigail Broussard leads the Eagles with 25 kills and 12 blocks.
Megan Horne has 22 kills in the series.
Anna Saelens averages 10.1 assists, and
Cristina Lorenz averages 17.5 digs.Â

Halle Neumann leads Bushnell in the series with 28 kills, and Shay Coons has 27. Makenna Northern averages 11 assists, and Callie Wilkins is averaging 18 digs. Payton Jones has nine blocks.Â

The Eagles have held their own against ranked teams on the road, getting two victories this season against the Top 25. Southern Oregon was ranked 21st when the Eagles scored a 3-2 win in Ashland, and Bushnell had its No. 23 ranking when NU won in Eugene on Oct. 29, 3-2.

Northwest ended a six-set losing streak and captured a Senior Night win over the College of Idaho in three sets.
Susanna Bailey led with 11 kills, and
Azaria Johnson blocked four shots.

The CCC quarterfinals begin Tuesday with NU at Bushnell and Lewis-Clark State at Oregon Tech. Top-seeded Corban and runner-up Eastern Oregon have first-round byes. The semifinals are Friday in Salem, Oregon. Eastern Oregon plays the highest advancing seed from the quarterfinals at 3:30 pm., and Corban gets the other advancing team at 7 p.m. The finals are set for 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Bushnell enters the postseason at 20-6 and is riding a three-match win streak after beating Walla Walla Saturday night. The Beacons have lost just one set since falling in five sets to the Eagles.Â

Shay Coons leads Bushnell with 3.46 kills per set, and Makenna Northern gets a league-leading 10.55 assists per set. Callie Wilkins averages 4.57 digs per set, and Matelynn Ladd leads the Beacons with 0.94 blocks per set.
