COLLEGE PLACE – Northwest turned 17 offensive rebounds into 17 second-chance points and carried off a 72-56 win over Walla Walla on Saturday.

The Eagles dominated offensively inside and shut down the Wolves' perimeter game (4-18 on three-point attempts).

Sam VanLoo led the Eagles with 17 points and 11 rebounds, including five offensive boards.
Livi Lindsey tacked on 10 points, and
Maya DuChesne contributed eight points and seven boards.

"Tonight's game was a good rebound from last night's tough loss," said NU Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "Walla Walla is much improved, and it is a tough place to play. We look forward to getting home and getting ready for our home games next weekend against Linfield and Pacific Lutheran."

The game was tied midway through the first quarter, but the Eagles took a 22-16 lead into the second quarter.Â

Walla Walla stayed within that six-point range for the first four minutes of the second quarter, but the Eagles closed out the half on an 11-6 run to take a 40-29 halftime edge.

VanLoo got a put back midway through the third quarter for NU's biggest lead of the quarter, 50-35. WWU got as close as eight points in the fourth quarter. VanLoo scored late in the fourth quarter for the final and largest margin of the game.

Now 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, Northwest steps outside of league play Friday for a 5 p.m. home game against Linfield.
