Box Score VANCOUVER – Northwest opened its men's soccer season with a resounding 5-2 win over Multnomah Sunday afternoon.

Elliot Misic's busy day included a goal and three assists.Â

"Today, we took a big step forward in our goals for the season," said NU Head Coach
Gary McIntosh. "I'm really pleased with how we approached the game today and the way we played. We have been working on some things this week at practice, and we saw good results for all that work. We scored quality goals off of good combination plays. Our teamwork was excellent, and we had great energy throughout the game."

The Eagles overcame an unlucky first half in which NU scored once but had three other shots carom off the post.

Angel Delgado punched in the first goal of the season, getting an assist from Misic in the ninth minute.

Leon Bormann made it 2-0 in the second half with an assist from
Noah Prophet.
Â
Multnomah answered quickly to make it 2-1, but NU responded with a flurry.
Justin Harden headed in a Misic offering to make it 3-1. Misic got his third assist, and
Gian Herrera punched in his first goal of the season for a 4-1 lead.

Misic got the scoring honors for the 5-1 lead.

The Eagles make up their previously postponed games at College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon Friday and Saturday.

"It's great to be playing again and looking forward to next weekend's games," McIntosh said.
