KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Softball season got off to a rocky start at Oregon Tech with two losses and one hit for Northwest on Friday.
Sarah Abramson tossed a no-hitter with eight strikeouts in the 20-0 first game. NU dropped the second game 10-0.
NU had three baserunners in the opener with walks.
Jordan Dippel led off the second game with a double.
NU used three pitchers in the doubleheader with
Becca Rennick and
Abby Brake taking the losses.
Sydney Maurer worked OIT pitchers for four walks.
"We clearly have a lot of ground to make up," said NU Head Coach
Pam Fink. "Oregon Tech on the road is a tough way to open. I think we will be a lot better than this once we have some innings behind us. We'll keep working hard."
Oregon Tech improved to 8-0 with the sweep.
The Eagles finish the series at OIT with two more games Saturday, beginning at noon.
