PORTLAND – A strong first half didn't translate into victory for Northwest Monday as the Eagles fell 4-2 at Warner Pacific.
Â
Tyler Hopp scored in the third minute with an unassisted goal, and
Gian Herrera put the Eagles up 2-0 in the 17th minute, converting an assist from
Jacob Moon.
Â
NU had the shutout brewing for the first 59 minutes before Warner Pacific found its rhythm for four second-half goals.
Â
"We played a good first half, scoring two great goals," said NU Head Coach
Gary McIntosh. "The second half was a different story and we made too many mistakes. We had other opportunities to score and we did not take advantage of them. We will learn from these two losses and get ready for the next two games."
Â
NU put all eight of its shots on goal, led by Hopp and
Angel Trejo-Delgado with two apiece. Moon, Herrera,
Leon Bormann, and
Titus Nickson each tested the WPU keeper once.
Â
Brandon Karberg had three saves in his complete-game outing in goal.
Â
The Eagles return to action Sunday and Monday with Corban visiting. Game times are 3:30 p.m. each day.
