KIRKLAND – Its scheduled home opener wiped out by a positive Covid-19 test, Northwest plays its first home soccer games of the season Sunday and Monday against Corban.
Both games begin at 3:30 p.m.
The Eagles are 9-15-1 all time against Corban, and the Warriors have won the last nine meetings. NU swept a two-game series with CU in 2014.
Corban defeated the Eagles 3-2 in 2019 in Kirkland. Matheus Giron, who scored twice for the Warriors in that game, is back for his senior season.
Northwest comes in after two tough losses at Warner Pacific. The Eagles lost second-half leads in both matches.
Kyle Han had two goals,
Gian Herrera had a goal and an assist,
Elliot Misic and
Tyler Hopp had one goal each, and
Jacob Moon had one assist in the WPU series.
Elliot Misic is 10th in the NAIA with 0.8 assists per game and 49th nationally with two points per game. Misic leads the Eagles with three goals and four assists.
Corban is 6-0 on the season and ranked 15th in the NAIA. The Warriors have posted shutouts in all six contests and have not scored fewer than three goals in a game this season.
Giron leads CU with nine goals and 23 points. Noe Favila is the team assists leader with six, to go with his five goals. Justin Keegan has been perfect in 11 save chances in 450 minutes in the net.
