GREAT FALLS, Montana – Northwest and Providence split a pair of run-rule games to wrap up the shortened series Saturday.

Providence won the opener 16-4 before the Eagles bounced back with a school-record 17 runs in a 17-4 win.
Jessica Nunes tied two school single-game records in the second game with two home runs and six RBIs.

The previous record of 16 runs came in 2016 against Walla Walla. Nunes tied
Savannah Rush's single-game RBI record from 2017. It was Nunes' second two-home run game of the season. She joins six other players to have two home runs in a game for NU, including teammates
Alyssa Maldonado this season and
Abby Brake last season.

"It feels good to head home with a win, but we have a lot to work on before Eastern Oregon comes to town next week," said NU Head Coach
Pam Fink.

Northwest struck first in the opener with
Sammi Caron scoring on a wild pitch after reaching on a walk.

Nunes added a two-run home run in the third.
Jordan Dippel had the only other NU hit in the game, ripping a double.

Becca Rennick took the pitching loss.

Northwest scored in all five innings of the second game.

The Eagles scored twice in the first inning on a pair of UP errors.
Â
NU added seven more in the second, including RBI singles by
Palena Gomes and
Sam Parisio, a three-run home run by Nunes, and a sacrifice fly by Caron.

Nunes hit her second three-run home run of the game in the third inning.
Â
Nicola Fish got an RBI when she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the fourth and three runs scored on an outfield error in the fifth.

NU produced eight hits and four batters were hit by pitches. Nunes and Gomes had two hits each with Fish, Dippel, Parisio, and
Sydney Maurer getting one hit each.

Abby Brake went the distance to pick up her first win of the season, allowing two earned runs.

Northwest hosts Eastern Oregon Friday and Saturday at Bellevue High School.
