SPOKANE – Northwest had six top 10 finishes at the Sam Adams Classic, hosted by Whitworth University Saturday.
Â
"It was good to be at a track and field meet, again," said NU Head Coach
Mark Mandi. "Overall, I thought our team competed well and learned some things that will help us get better down the road. We had some solid performances and even some personal bests. Senior Quinn Dhaenens got to run her last race as an Eagle just a few miles from her hometown which was nice. Freshman
Kacey Koehn was less than half a meter from hitting the national qualifier in the javelin with a big PR.
Demietrius Cress continues to make big strides in the long sprints, with season-bests in both the 400m and 200m."
Â
Koehn finished second in the javelin with a throw of 54.51 meters, just missing a national qualifying standard by half a meter.
Caleb Hall finished 10th at 32.78 meters.
Â
Craig Lambert placed sixth in the 10,000 meters at 35:51.40.
Â
Cress was seventh in both the 200 and 400 meters. He ran the 200 in 23.05 seconds and the 400 in 52.13.
Â
Micah Murphy ran a 4:04.13 to place eighth in the 1500 with
Michael Hall finishing in 4:54.41.
Â
Riley Sine placed 14th in the 5000 meters in 15:29.07.
Â
Josie Friesen placed 12th in the javelin with a throw of 23.69 meters.
Â
Dhaenens ran the 5000 meters in 20:47.94 and finished 17th.
