Game Recap: Softball | | Ray Fink, NU Sports Information

No. 5 Tech Stymies Eagles

REDMOND – Northwest put together 13 hits but no runs as No. 5 Oregon Tech got the 5-0, 9-0 sweep Friday at Hartman Park.

Sammi Caron had two singles and Nicola Fish and Alyssa Maldonado added two each in the first game.

"I thought our pitchers did a good job for the most part and we hit the ball; we just didn't string anything together. We didn't get the hits we needed with runners on base," said NU Head Coach Pam Fink.

Becca Rennick went the distance for the Eagles, allowing four earned runs on nine hits.

Sarah Abramson struck out eight for the Tech shutout in the first game.

Northwest clubbed nine hits in the second game, getting two singles each from Caron, Alyssa Maldonado, and Jordan Dippel. Ashley Oswald added a double and Kayla Stanley and Nicola Fish added singles.

Sydney Maurer allowed four earned runs through 4.1 innings and Abby Brake finished up, allowing two earned over 2.2 innings.

McKenzie Staub scattered eight hits over six innings and Kacie Schmidt finished up with a two-strikeout seventh for the Owls.

The teams move to Bellevue High School for an 11 a.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
