REDMOND – Northwest put together 13 hits but no runs as No. 5 Oregon Tech got the 5-0, 9-0 sweep Friday at Hartman Park.
Sammi Caron had two singles and
Nicola Fish and
Alyssa Maldonado added two each in the first game.
"I thought our pitchers did a good job for the most part and we hit the ball; we just didn't string anything together. We didn't get the hits we needed with runners on base," said NU Head Coach
Pam Fink.
Becca Rennick went the distance for the Eagles, allowing four earned runs on nine hits.
Sarah Abramson struck out eight for the Tech shutout in the first game.
Northwest clubbed nine hits in the second game, getting two singles each from Caron,
Alyssa Maldonado, and
Jordan Dippel.
Ashley Oswald added a double and
Kayla Stanley and
Nicola Fish added singles.
Sydney Maurer allowed four earned runs through 4.1 innings and
Abby Brake finished up, allowing two earned over 2.2 innings.
McKenzie Staub scattered eight hits over six innings and Kacie Schmidt finished up with a two-strikeout seventh for the Owls.
The teams move to Bellevue High School for an 11 a.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
