SEATTLE – Northwest opened with a 5-0 loss at NCAA Division II's fifth-ranked Seattle Pacific Thursday.
 
The Falcons scored four first-half goals.
 
"We are very disappointed with the way we came out today and overall with the performance, but these games are what preseason is about. We will learn from the game and move forward," said NU Head Coach Bryan Chud.
 
Sophie Beadle and Sophia Chilczuk gave SPU a 2-0 lead in the first 12:30. Lauren Forster and Claire Neder added first-half scores, and Forster added the finale in the 53rd minute.
 
Northwest had shots by Callie Wright, Gracie VanAssche, and Claire Jo Diede, with VanAssche getting the lone shot on goal for the Eagles.
 
Kierstin Patefield logged three saves for NU.
 
The Eagles return to action Sunday in Lacey, taking on St. Martin's at 3 p.m. NU fans are encouraged to contribute to the Saints' fundraising effort to defeat ALS.
