KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Northwest opened Cascade Collegiate Conference play with a 1-0 setback at the hands of No. 21 Oregon Tech on Friday.
Â
Oregon Tech got on the board quickly, getting a goal from Maddie Miller in the sixth minute.
Â
"We knew today would be a tough game, and it proved to be," said NU Head Coach
Bryan Chud. "We started very flat and gave away a soft, early goal that left us chasing the game. In the second half, we played better but still not up to the standards we've set for ourselves. We'll turn our focus to tomorrow now as we face another tough opponent."
Â
The Eagles managed just three shots, including a shot on goal by
Montse Youngsman.
Claire Jo Diede and
Peyton Manalo had the other two shots.
Â
Northwest's defense limited the Owls to seven shots, and
Kierstin Patefield collected two saves.
Â
Now 1-5-1 overall and 0-1 in the CCC, the Eagles have a 3:30 p.m. contest on Saturday against Southern Oregon in Ashland.
