ASHLAND, Ore. – Southern Oregon used a penalty kick while Northwest played a man down for the final 40 minutes for a 2-1 win over the Eagles Saturday.

Brayden Corwin delivered a 1-0 NU lead in the third minute.
Tyler Hopp made a run down the left side and chipped to Corwin, who buried the shot from 12 feet out.

Adrian Villegas knotted the score in the 12th minute, and the teams took a 1-1 score into the break.

A Northwest player picked up a pair of cards in just over the first five minutes of the second half.Â

The decisive PK by Joao de Santos came in the 76th minute.
Alexander Thiehofe had six saves for the Eagles, who were outshot 24-7.

Corwin,
Dmitriy Zorchenko, and
Elliot Misic had two shots apiece, with Corwin and Zorchenko managing shots on goal.

"Two losses this weekend was not the outcome we were wanting," said NU Head Coach
Gary McIntosh. "Today we played well enough to win but had some things go against us that made the game more difficult. We will rest up and get ready to host two good opponents this week."

The Eagles fall to 4-3 on the season and 0-2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Northwest returns home for a weekend series against Providence on Friday and Rocky Mountain on Saturday. Both matches begin at 12:30 p.m.
