Eagles Top Argos in Double Overtime

KIRKLAND – Elliot Misic converted a penalty kick early into the second overtime period to give Northwest a 1-0 win over Providence Friday in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's soccer action.

Alexander Thiehofe withstood all three Providence shots on goal to collect the shutout victory.

"That was a good team win today," said NU Head Coach Gary McIntosh. "We used a lot of players, and they all contributed. We created a lot of opportunities to score today but just could not find any goals. Credit the team for not giving up and drawing a penalty kick. We now turn our focus to tomorrow's game."

The Eagles launched 12 shots for the game and put eight on the frame. Misic and Brayden Corwin had three shots each, and Titus Nickson had a pair of headers.

Misic and Corwin led with two shots on goal each, with Nickson, Benjamin Banks-Forder, Frederik Marten, and Angel Trejo-Delgado getting one apiece.

Evan Scholes has seven saves for the Argos.

The Eagles, now 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the conference, host Rocky Mountain in a 12:30 p.m. contest on Saturday.
