Eagles Open CCC Slate this Weekend at Home

KIRKLAND – Northwest opens Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball action this weekend with home matches against Warner Pacific at 7 p.m. on Friday and Multnomah at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Fans must wear a mask inside Kristi Brodin Pavilion.
 
The Eagles are 25-7 all time against Warner Pacific. Northwest has won the last 11 meetings, dating back to a 3-1 loss in Portland in 2014. The Knights haven't won in Kirkland since 2012. 
 
NU is 10-0 all time against Multnomah. The Lions have won five sets in 10 matches since 2015.
 
Warner Pacific and Multnomah played a non-conference contest against each other to start the season. Multnomah won, 3-1. Multnomah had a .149 attack percentage, and Warner Pacific swung at a .073 clip.
 
Northwest has won four of its last five conference openers. The lone hiccup was a 3-1 loss in 2018 against Evergreen State.
 
The Eagles boast three players averaging above 2.4 kills per set. Abigail Broussard leads NU with 3.53 kills per game, followed by Jill Botsford at 2.54 and Megan Horne with 2.47. The team averages 10.24 kills per set. Broussard is 46th in the NAIA in kills per set.
 
After racking up 50 assists Wednesday against Pacific Lutheran, Anna Saelens is averaging 9.44 assists per set. She is 26th in the NAIA in assists per set. 
 
Cristina Lorenz averages 4.81 digs per set, and Kelsey Cummins gets 3.0 to make for a strong defense. Lorenz ranks 45th in the NAIA.
 
Warner Pacific comes into the weekend at 0-1 after its four-set loss to Multnomah. Grace Buchanan registered four kills per set in that match and is second in the CCC in kills per set. The Knights have allowed a conference-worst 13 kills per set. 
 
After their win at home against Warner Pacific, the Lions started 1-0 after a 0-14 spring. Danae Stokes leads the CCC with five kills per set, and Rachel Bailey leads the league with 9.5 assists per set. Defensively, Alyssa Mehalovich leads the conference with 6.25 digs per game.
