KIRKLAND – Northwest plays its first home game of the women's soccer season Wednesday when Evergreen State visits for a 5 p.m. non-conference contest.

The game originally was scheduled for Aug. 24 but was postponed due to a rash of preseason ESC injuries.

Both combatants Wednesday are looking for their first win of the 2021 season. The Geoducks opened a week ago with a 2-2 tie at Linfield. Northwest is 0-2-1, coming off of a 1-1 tie at Lewis & Clark.

Northwest scored a 1-0 win in Olympia in 2019--the last time the teams met.
Madison Morrow had the only goal, and
Olivia Morris had an assist.
Kat Sanchez had eight saves for the Eagles.

Northwest is 15-0 in the series with Evergreen State. The Eagles won 6-0 in 2018--the last time the teams played in Kirkland.

Sunny Bieber and Madison Early had goals for the Geoducks, and Celia Scruton had assists for both games. ESC put 56 percent of their 18 shots on target. Lucky Backus played the full 110 minutes in goal, collecting nine saves. She comes to Kirkland with a 1.64 goals-against average.
