KIRKLAND – Northwest picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Evergreen State in a non-conference game.

Claire Jo Diede had a goal and two assists to lead the Eagles.

Maya Lewis collected the game-winning goal in the 20th minute, playing home a double assist by
Callie Wright and Diede.

The Eagles took that 1-0 lead into the break.

Diede scored with an assist from
Kayla Soderstrom in the 54th minute to put the Eagles ahead 2-0.

Gracie VanAssche added the final goal in the 64th minute, using a double assist from Soderstrom and Diede.

"We did a very good job of possessing the ball today, keeping our defensive shape, and creating opportunities," said NU Head Coach
Bryan Chud. "It was nice to get a win and continue our progression through the preseason. I'm very proud of our approach and the way we played today and look forward to the coming games."

Northwest launched 31 shots for the game, compared to four for the Geoducks.

Diede had 10 shots, Wright added five, and Soderstrom and VanAssche had three each.

Diede and Soderstrom had three shots on goal each.
Liv Lagerquist and
McKenna Ramoso had two apiece and testing the keeper once apiece were
Olivia Morrisa, Wright, Lewis,
Anna Lau, and VanAssche.

Kierstin Patefield needed just one save to finish with the clean sheet in goal.

Now 1-2-1, the Eagles play at Puget Sound Friday at 4:30 p.m.
