KIRKLAND – Northwest hit 56 percent of its shots and produced 29 assists in a 98-72 win over Walla Walla Friday afternoon.
The game was tied through the first five minutes before the Eagles launched a 13-0 run to take over.
Rayvaughn Bolton,
CaCoa Chatman, and
Connor Drinkwine poured in three-pointers in the run to build a 22-9 lead with 12:52 left in the first half.
The Eagles closed the half on a 9-0 run to take a 53-30 lead to halftime.
Northwest's second-half lead peaked at 31 points, 73-42, with 11:27 left in the game when
Devante Powell scored in the lane after an offensive rebound.
Tanner Davis led the Eagles with 18 points, followed by Drinkwine with 17. Bolton had a well-rounded game with 13 points to go with a team-leading seven rebounds and nine assists. Chatman added 11 points and five assists.
The Eagles outrebounded the Wolves 42-33 and had 11 steals, led by Drinkwine with three.
"I was happy with our defense today," said NU Head Coach
Jeff Drinkwine. "The defense created a lot of energy for our offense, and I thought we shared the ball extremely well today. Overall, it was a strong performance. We told the guys to enjoy that game tonight, get some rest, and come out and keep that energy and enjoyment tomorrow."
KiAndre Gaddy had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Wolves.
The Eagles (8-9 overall, 5-7 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference) take on Lewis-Clark State at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
