Eagles Pick Up Road Win at Corban

SALEM, Ore. – Livi Lindsey scored a career-high 24 points, and Northwest claimed a 60-44 win over Corban Saturday.

Lindsey converted eight of 12 field-goal attempts and all seven of her free throws to help the Eagles to its first win since Dec. 18. Her previous career high was 22 points against Multnomah and Salish Kootenai.

Lindsey got the Eagles off on the right foot, scoring nine first-quarter points and leading NU to a 15-9 lead. By halftime, Lindsey had matched her season high with 17 points, and the Eagles led 27-24.

Northwest pulled away in the third quarter with a solid defensive posture that limited the Warriors to 14.3 percent shooting to go with five turnovers. Grace Meza outscored Corban by herself in the third quarter, 6-4, and the Eagles took a 44-28 lead into the fourth quarter.

Caitlin Monten hit a jumper with 3:33 left in the fourth quarter to lift the Eagles to their biggest lead, 58-37.

"Good win today against a very resilient and determined Corban team," said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. "We had a good third quarter when we finally focused on both our offensive and defensive games. We continue to develop more consistency in the way we are trying to play. We've got another test tomorrow when we play at Bushnell."

Meza finished with eight points and four assists. Sam VanLoo shouldered much of the defensive load with 10 rebounds, three steals, and four blocked shots.

Now 11-4 overall and 5-3 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the Eagles play a 3 p.m. game at Bushnell on Sunday.
