Eagles Alone in First Place After Win

PORTLAND – Northwest got back to its shutout ways with a 3-0 win at Warner Pacific on Saturday.

The Eagle defense limited the Knights to one shot in the game, which was turned away by Hanne Breur. It was Breur's 10th shutout of the season, one shy of the single-season record held by Kat Sanchez.

Northwest broke a scoreless tie with 35 seconds remaining in the first half when Liv Lagerquist scored using an assist from Trinity Mischel off of a corner kick.

Kayla Soderstrom put the Eagles up 2-0 in the 80th minute, getting an assist from Lagerquist.

A three-shot barrage concluded with a goal for Gracie VanAssche in the 85th minute after attempts by Anna Lau and Soderstrom.

"I was really happy with how we played today," said NU Head Coach Bryan Chud. "We were professional in our approach and worked hard as a unit to break down a resilient Warner Pac side. It felt good to get a complete performance again, and the girls have earned their position at the table."

Northwest had 27 shots and 14 shots on goal for the game. Soderstrom led in both categories with nine shots and five shots on goal. Launching one shot on goal each were Lagerquist, VanAssche, Lau, Olivia Morris, Colette Liston, Sarah Hansen, Maya Lewis, Halley Marschall and Trinity Mischel.

NU improves to 12-0-2 on the season and 8-0-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference contests. The Eagles, now alone in first place, play at Evergreen State at noon on Saturday, Oct. 22.
