Â
"Credit both teams for competing with great energy from start to finish," said NU Head Coach Steven Bain. "There were times when Warner Pacific's defense kept plays alive that we thought were over, which caused us to be impatient on long rallies. But like so many matches, this one came down to serving and passing, and our ladies were terrific in both phases, which allowed us to side out and score points at a high level."
Â
The Eagles used an 11-1 run to take a 12-3 lead and later tacked on a 10-0 run to take full control of the first set. Northwest broke open the second set with a 7-1 run to take a 12-4 lead.
Â
In the third set, NU put together a 12-1 run to take a 23-7 lead. Mickle ended the night with a kill.
Â
Northwest improved to 11-10 overall and 7-6 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with the win. NU hosts Multnomah at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
