MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Northwest got its first road win of the season with an 85-63 shelling of Linfield on Saturday.
Â
The 2-1 Eagles got 29 points from Drew Bryson and a dozen rebounds form Lewis Pope in the victory.
Â
The NU defense came up with 10 steals, held the Wildcats to 30 percent shooting from three-point range and out-rebounded Linfield 38-30.
Â
"Our guys really bounced back tonight," said NU Head Coach Rick Skeen, less than 24 hours after a tough loss at Puget Sound. Â "Our defensive effort was much more focused."
Â
CaCoa Chatman (15), Danny Sharpe (14) and James Laurence (13) joined Bryson in double figures in the scoring column.
Â
"Lots of great individual efforts," Skeen said. "Started with 12 rebounds from Lewis Pope. Coa and Drew really shot the ball well and Danny had a big night inside."
Â
Trailing 17-15 near the midway point of the first half, NU finished the half with a flurry of a 37-12 run to lead 52-29 at the half.
Â
The Northwest lead peaked at 32 points, 68-36, with a three-pointer by Brody Steinhart with 13:15 left in the game.
Â
Chatman led the Eagles with five assists.
Â
Bryson, Pope and AJ Chappell had two steals each.
Â
The Eagles return to action next weekend at the College of Idaho's Domino's Classic. NU plays Embry-Riddle on Friday and Montana Western on Saturday, both games tipping at 2 p.m. Pacific.
