ERAU Trips Up Eagles in Idaho

CALDWELL, Idaho – Northwest struggled from three-point range and in rebounding in a 72-55 loss to Embry-Riddle in the College of Idaho's Domino's Classic on Friday.

The Eagles played almost the entirety of the game without Djordje Mitrovic, who injured his ankle on the opening jump.

Drew Bryson led the Eagles with 19 points, with Lewis Pope adding 11.

"We played really well on the defensive side of the ball in the first half and held them to 22 points," said NU Head Coach Rick Skeen. "In the second half, they adjusted, and we didn't, and we gave up 50 points. Hurt us that Djordje sprained his ankle on the jump ball and is on crutches. Our bigs are dropping like flies."

NU had a 45-41 lead with 11:57 remaining in the game but went one of six with three turnovers on its next nine possessions as ERAU built a 54-47 lead.

After a pair of baskets by Pope, the Eagles clawed back to within five but made just one basket in the final five minutes as ERA pulled away.

Pope and Sharpe led the Eagles with four rebounds each. CaCoa Chatman had four assists and three steals.

The Eagles misfired on 20 of 26 three-point attempts and were outrebounded by ERAU 48-23.

Northwest closes out its visit to Idaho on Saturday with a 2 p.m. (Pacific) game against Montana Western.
