LA GRANDE, Ore. – Northwest fell 14 points behind late in the first half and dropped a 72-62 decision at Eastern Oregon on Saturday.
Despite the loss, the Eagles are officially in the postseason with a three-game lead on the chasers with two games remaining.
Sam VanLoo posted 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles, with
Livi Lindsey scoring 14 points, while
Maya DuChesne had eight points and five assists.
Shelaine Lorenz also had five assists to go with nine rebounds and four points.
Northwest trailed 31-27 with 2:33 to go in the second quarter, but the Mounties finished the half on a 10-0 run to build a 41-27 lead with 10 seconds to go.
Grace Meza hit a last-second three-pointer to make the halftime score 41-30.
The Eagles got no closer than eight points from there.
"Tough loss tonight for the Lady Eagles," said NU Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "Eastern Oregon is a great shooting team, and they have quite a home-court advantage. We battled but made too many mistakes that allowed them to capitalize. Looking forward to next weekend for our last two home games and then on to the playoffs."
NU finishes the regular season with home games Friday at 5:30 p.m. against Bushnell and Saturday at 3 p.m. against Corban.
The Eagles are 15-12 overall and 9-11 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
