KIRKLAND – Bushnell outscored Northwest 7-0 in the final 20 seconds to steal a 66-65 win over the Eagles Saturday night.
Rayvaughn Bolton gave NU a 65-59 lead with a pair of free throws with 30 seconds left, but Isaac Girley hit a big three-pointer with 20 seconds to go.
After an NU turnover, the Eagles opted to foul with a three-point lead. Drayton Caoile made both bonus free throws to make it a 65-64 game with 10 seconds left. The Beacons fouled immediately, and NU missed the front end of its bonus opportunity, leaving the door open.
Stevie Schlabach got the game winner in the lane with one second left.
A three-point try near half court came off the rim, and Bushnell got the win.
"Our guys played hard for 40 minutes and came up just short," said NU Coach
Zach Smith. "I'm proud of the effort. We'll be ready to play again tomorrow."
CaCoa Chatman led the Eagles with 19 points and eight assists. Tre Newman added 10 points, and Bolton finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.
