KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Northwest lost a pair of games at top-ranked Oregon Tech University, despite the team's offensive highlights.
"We played them well. They have a lot of offensive weapons but we battled and hit well all weekend," said NU Head Coach
Pam Fink. "We've got some work to do but I'm proud of our effort."
The Owls won 11-3 and 8-2.
Oregon Tech 11, Northwest 3
With a scoreless first inning, Oregon Tech took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. But the
Eagles answered back quickly in the third when
Jessica Nunes was brought across the plate on an RBI by
Emily Barry, tying the score 1-1.
Jordan Dippel led off the fourth inning by hitting a single and later scored on a wild pitch. Yet the Owls put the pressure on again by adding four runs to close out the inning, and six more in the fifth inning.
Northwest's final run was in the top of the fifth inning, with
Kayla Stanley hitting a solo home run to centerfield.
Dippel led with two hits of her three at-bats, with
Nicola Fish, Stanley, and Nunes having one of each.
Sydney Maurer got the pitching start and took the loss.

Both teams started strong in offense, with Oregon Tech scoring four runs, and Northwest adding one of their own after
Kayla Stanley scored on a double RBI by
Emily Barry in the first.
The Owls packed on three more runs in the third inning and their last run in the bottom of the fourth.
After a scoreless fifth inning, the Eagles gained the final run of the game in the sixth with a solo home run by
Nicola Fish.
Madisyn Leffle went 2-2 at the plate, with Fish and
Bella King following with two hits of their three at-bats.
Becca Rennick took the loss as starting pitcher while adding a strikeout to her name.
NU returns to action next weekend, hosting Carroll on Friday and Saturday.
