BELLEVUE – Northwest posted a pair of eight-run performances to gain a doubleheader sweep of Carroll College on Friday, winning 8-3 and 8-6.

"We're in a pretty good place offensively, and we got some good pitching tonight," said NU Head Coach
Pam Fink. "We've got some defensive issues to clean up, but we're excited to get a couple of conference wins under our belt. Overall, we're proud of the effort today."

NU 8, Carroll 3
The Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead and matched Carroll the rest of the way to pick up their first Cascade Collegiate Conference win of the season.

Madisyn Leffle led off the first with a walk, stole second and third, and scored on a wild pitch.
Nicola Fish added an RBI single, and
Jordan Dippel followed with a two-run triple for a 4-0 lead. Dippel scored on a sacrifice fly by
Jessica Nunes.

Carroll cut into the lead in the third with an RBI single by Ellie Koerber. The Eagles got that run back in the bottom of the third when Dippel beat out an infield single, stole second, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Alyssa Maldonado.

The Saints got within 6-3, but Nunes homered, and Leffle added an RBI triple in the sixth for the final margin.

Dippel led the Eagles' seven-hit offense with two hits. Amber Brewer had three hits for the Saints.

Bella King went the distance in the circle for NU, striking out three and allowing two earned runs to move to 2-4.

NU 8, Carroll 6
Carroll jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, including a Kaitlyn Ayers RBI double, but the Eagles tied the score in the home half of the inning. Leffle walked, stole second and third, and scored on a grounder by
Emily Barry. Barry later scored on a wild pitch, and
Nicola Fish came home on a double steal attempt.Â

Kirsten Norris added an RBI double in the second, and Kenna Thomas added an RBI single in the third to lift Carrol to a 5-3 lead.

The Eagles scored three in the third to grab a 6-5 lead.
Kayla Stanley singled, Barry walked, and both moved up on stolen bases. Fish singled in Stanley, and Barry scored on a base hit by Nunes. Dippel also singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Sam Parisio.

Jessica Nimmo delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the sixth, but the Eagles added two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Barry ripped an RBI double and later scored on a wild pitch.

Nunes, Stanley, and King had two hits each to lead the Eagles' offense, while Norris had four hits for Carroll.

Sydney Maurer pitched the last four innings, allowing one unearned run, and picked up the win to improve to 2-1.

The teams finish off the series at Newport High School Saturday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader.Â
