Eagles Drop Finale at No. 3 CI, 3-2

CALDWELL, Idaho – Northwest lost a pair of games at No. 3 College of Idaho Saturday, falling 8-1 and 3-2.
 
The Eagles dropped to 2-7 in Cascade Collegiate Conference games but have completed their series with two of the NAIA's top three teams.
 
"Good bounce back today. Our pitchers threw well. We just have to keep getting better as a team," said NU Head Coach Pam Fink. 
 
CI 8, NU 1
 
Northwest fell behind 6-0 before breaking up the shutout in the fifth inning. Ashley Carter singled, moved to third on a double by Sam Parisio, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Madisyn Leffle.
 
The Eagles had six hits—one each by Parisio, Carter, Leffle, Kayla Stanley, Emily Barry, and Jordan Dippel.
 
Bella King pitched a complete game, allowing four earned and four unearned runs.
 
CI 3, NU 2
 
Northwest had one-run leads in the first and third innings but allowed two runs in the bottom of the third for the final margin.
 
NU got on the board in the first when Leffle singled, stole second, moved to third on a grounder by Dippel, and scored on an RBI ground out by Barry.
 
The Eagles took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third on a two-out RBI single by Olivia Brown.
 
Becca Rennick pitched a gem, allowing two earned runs over six innings while striking out three. 
 
Leffle led NU with two hits, while Brown, Nicola Fish, and Dippel had one each.
 
The Eagles next play Wednesday, heading to British Columbia for a 1:30 p.m. conference doubleheader.
