KIRKLAND – Northwest launches its men's soccer season with two games in Salem, Oregon, Thursday and Saturday. The Eagles take on Concordia from Nebraska at 4 p.m. on Thursday and Northwestern College from Iowa at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Dr. Gary McIntosh enters his 20th season at the helm of Northwest. He has 155 wins on the Eagles' sidelines and 205 in his career. McIntosh has been the all-time leader in men's soccer coaching wins at Northwest since 2008.

Northwest returns NAIA Honorable Mention All-America selection Elliot Misic for his fourth season. He has been All-Conference all three of his previous seasons. He had 15 goals and six assists last season. Misic comes into the season with 27 goals and 12 assists.

Gian Herrera and Alexander Thiehofe return to the Eagles after earning All-Conference honorable mention honors last season. Herrera had three goals and an assist last season as a forward. Thiehofe logged four shutouts and 90 saves last season in goal.

Concordia (Nebraska) also opens its season Thursday with the Eagles. The Bulldogs were 7-8-3 last season. Martin Herrera, who had four goals and three assists last season, returns. Starting goalkeeper Gabriel Mendoza also returns after posting 52 saves and a 1.27 goals-allowed average.

Northwestern opens Thursday with Corban. The Raiders won the Great Plains Conference last season and went 16-4-1 for the season. Niklas Fitter is back after his seven-goal season last year. Goalkeeper Ezekiel Foltz also returns after posting 11 shutouts and a 0.60 goals-allowed average in 2021.
