Eagles Take On Soka, Jamestown This Weekend

KIRKLAND – Northwest hopes to keep its win streak rolling with two contests this weekend, hosting Soka on Saturday at 1 p.m. and playing Jamestown in La Grande, Oregon, Sunday at 2 p.m.
 
Saturday's contest against Soka was originally scheduled as a neutral site game in Salem on Friday.
 
The Eagles moved to 2-0 on the season after claiming its second 3-0 win of the year, this last time at George Fox. NU opened with a 3-0 win at home against Fraser Valley. Northwest has never started the season 3-0.
 
Freshman Hanne Breur picked up her second shutout in as many college contests last week. She is the first NU keeper to open the season with consecutive shutout victories. Breur is tied for the league lead in shutouts at two. She also is the only player in the league with multiple games that has not allowed a goal.
 
Claire Jo Diede and Elizabeth Moretti lead the Eagles in points this season with five and four, respectively. Diede has two goals and an assist, while Moretti has scored a goal in both games this season. 
 
Northwest has three players in the top eight in shooting percentage in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Anna Lau is tied for first with one goal on her only shot. Diede is seventh with two goals on three shots, and Moretti is eighth with two goals on five shots. The Eagles lead the conference with a .231 shooting percentage.
 
Soka comes into the match at 0-2-1, most recently falling to Hope International at home, 4-2. Mallorie Barteua leads the Lions with two goals on five shots. Araceli Soto-Garcia has a goal and an assist. Mackinzie Stenstrom has allowed 2.67 goals per game as the keeper for the team.
 
Jamestown received 48 points in the NAIA preseason poll, which ranks them 29th in the rankings. The Jimmies come into the weekend at 0-2 after 1-0 losses to Aquinas and Cumberlands.
 
Jamestown has a total of eight shots over those two games, led by Aubree Gessel and Gaby Sarkis with two each. Tea Pence has a 1.00 GAA with 11 saves. Opponents have been averaging 18 shots per game against the Jimmies.
