Eagles, Owls Play to Scoreless Draw

KIRKLAND – Northwest's defense remained stellar at home Saturday against Oregon Tech but the Eagles couldn't get a goal and finished in a scoreless tie with the Owls.

Hanne Breur had four saves and picked up her sixth shutout of the season for the Eagles, who are now 5-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Sydni Nakamura got the three-save shutout for Oregon Tech.

"I felt like we controlled the game well today with the exception of just a few minutes," said NU Head Coach Bryan Chud. "Unfortunately, we couldn't find the breakthrough, but again we played with intensity, energy and purpose, and I am very proud of the effort we put in."

Northwest has not allowed a goal in five home games and only one for the season through seven games.

The Eagles out-shot OIT 18-11 but the Owls had four shots on goal to NU's three. Halley Marschall, Elizabeth Moretti and Maya Lewis each had a shot on goal for the Eagles.

Northwest gets its first CCC road tests next weekend with a trip to Montana. The Eagles play at Rocky Mountain on Friday and Providence on Saturday in a pair of noon starts.
