Volleyball Hosts Tough Foes the Weekend

KIRKLAND – Northwest faces two tough foes at home this weekend, hosting Oregon Tech at 7 p.m. on Friday and No. 22 Southern Oregon at 5 p.m. on Saturday. 
 
Northwest was swept in two 3-0 matches against Oregon Tech last season, but the Eagles enjoy a 23-5 lead in the all-time series. Southern Oregon leads the all-time series with NU, 29-9, but the Eagles bedeviled the Raiders, 3-2, in both matches last season.
 
The Eagles try to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Evergreen State in Kirkland on Tuesday. Abigail Broussard was a bright spot for the Eagles with 14 kills, but NU had a .158 attack percentage for that match. Northwest enters the weekend at 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. 
 
Broussard leads the Eagles with 3.09 kills per set with 136 kills and a .351 attack percentage. Broussard leads the Cascade Collegiate Conference in total kills and is second in attack percentage. She leads the Cascade Collegiate Conference in kills and attack percentage. Broussard leads the Cascade Collegiate Conference with 181.5 points this season and is second in the league with 4.1 points per set.
 
Kelsey Moore tops the Eagles with 268 digs and a 6.0 digs per set average. Moore leads the CCC in total digs and is second in digs per set.
 
Oregon Tech comes into the Pavilion on Friday with a 4-4 overall and 1-1 Cascade Collegiate Conference record. OIT swept Walla Walla on Saturday after falling to Lewis-Clark State in five sets. Nicole Reyes leads the Owls with 3.29 kills per set. Courtney Isom leads the way with 5.34 assists per set, and Aubrey Kievit has a team-best 14 aces. Ashley Ripplinger has 20 blocks, and Kievit leads the back row defense with 4.28 digs per set.
 
The Raiders roll in at 8-1 overall, including a 2-0 mark in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. SOU has not lost a set in the last five matches. Myelna Testoni leads the team with 2.87 kills and 13 aces. Hannah Randall averages 5.3 assists per game to lead a trio of regular setters. Sadie Byrd leads the front row defense with 32 blocks, and Kayla Neidigh has racked up a team-high 113 digs (3.77 per game).
