KIRKLAND – Northwest clawed back from 29 points down to make a game of it late, but lost to Warner Pacific 77-73 on Friday.
Â
Down 60-40 with 12 minutes left, the Eagles got eight points by
Isaiah Dunn and five by
Drew Bryson in a 16-4 run to get the Knights' lead under 10 points with seven minutes left.
Â
A Bryson three-pointer with one minute left cut the WPU lead to 73-71 but the Eagles could get no closer.
Â
"Proud of the fight but you can't spot a team a 29-point lead," said NU Head Coach Rick Skeen. "We tightened up our defense and our kids showed a lot of resilience and toughness. We need to find a way to put 40 minutes together."
Â
Bryson and
James Laurence led NU with 13 points each. Dunn added 12 points and Coa Chatman chipped in 11 points, five steals and four assists.
Isaiah Williams and
Carson Sparks added six rebounds each.
Â
Thomas Miles had 26 points to lead the Knights.
Â
NU returns to action on Saturday, hosting Multnomah at 5 p.m.
