Eagles Finish Strong to Defeat Multnomah

KIRKLAND – A huge three-pointer by Morgan Marshall and four consecutive made free throws by the Eagles at the end of the game sealed a Northwest 82-79 win over Multnomah on Saturday.

The Eagles were down 79-75 with under a minute left in the game. Kylie Lunday was fouled and made two free throws with 53 seconds left to make it a two-point game.

After Multnomah missed two free throws, Katie Fleming missed a game-tying shot but got her own rebound. Later in that same possession, Lunday fed Marshall for the go-ahead three-pointer with 25 seconds to go.

The Lions missed on their penultimate possession and Fleming got the rebound, was fouled, and iced the game with one second left, canning two free throws for the final margin with one second to go.

Elise Graham flung a desperation shot that went off the backboard and front rim and the Eagles celebrated the win.

"Really proud of our team tonight," said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. "We've gone through a long stretch where we have come close or have not played well. A lot more fun to win! Multnomah played really well, and it came down to executing at the very end. Good things ahead!"

Kyrin Baklund led the Eagles with 24 points while Marshall added 17 and Maya DuChesne 16. Marshall led NU with nine rebounds, DuChesne added five assists and Fleming added three steals. Lunday had seven points to go with her seven rebounds.

Dalila Rincan led five double-figure scorers for MU with 22 points.

Northwest begins a four-game road trip on Friday, playing a noon game at Walla Walla.
