COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Northwest scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter and rode that rally to a 69-59 win at Walla Walla on Friday.
With the score tied at 47-47, NU got four points from Kyrin Baklund in the 8-0 run that saw the Eagles take a 55-47 lead with 6:14 remaining in the game.
Walla Walla got as close as three points and trailed by four with a minute to go, but the Eagles made all six of their free throw attempts in the last 26 seconds to stave off the comeback.
"Good win this afternoon," said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. "Walla Walla is a tough place to play. They always play hard the whole game. Happy with our effort and focus for the full 40 minutes."
Baklund led NU with 18 points, followed by Kylie Lunday with 13 and Maya DuChesne with 10. Lunday and Morgan Marshall collected nine rebounds each. Katie Fleming posted six assists and three steals.
The Eagles head westward to play at Lewis-Clark State in a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday.
