Eagles Whip Wolves

COLLEGE PLACE – Northwest broke free from an eight-game slide with an 89-61 win at Walla Walla on Friday.

The Wolves were able to keep it close through the first half, but a 51-point second half fueled the Eagles to victory.

NU used a 24-6 run in the middle of the second half to blow open a two-point game. Bryson Drew went off for all 12 of his points and Lewis Pope added nine in that spree.

The Eagles' lead peaked at 82-36 with 3:35 to go on a three-pointer by O'Shae Barquet.

"It was good to get a win today," said NU Head Coach Rick Skeen. "Guys have really stuck together and bought in. We had a great week of practice and it showed on the floor tonight. Our defense was solid and we shared the ball and made the extra pass tonight."

Pope led the Eagles with 27 points and eight rebounds with Barquet adding 15 points and Isaiah Dunn contributing 14. CaCoa Chatman had four assists and three steals.

The Eagles head to Lewis-Clark State for a 5 p.m. contest on Saturday.
