LEWISTON, Idaho - Northwest stuck with 10th-ranked Lewis-Clark State well into the second quarter before the Warriors pulled away for a 95-53 win on Saturday.
Â
NU shot 50 percent from the field and grabbed 10 rebounds in the first quarter, which ended in a 22-22 tie.
Â
Morgan Marshall scored with 3:32 to go to keep the Eagles close at 33-32. LCSC went on a 15-4 to gain a double-figure lead.
Esther Pappuleas scored a three-pointer just before halftime.
Â
"Really pleased with our first half tonight," said NU Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "Our game plan and execution kept us in the game. But there is a reason why LC State is number 10 in the country. They had some players that really came through in the second half and we were slow to respond. Great learning experience. It's been a good weekend!"
Â
Kylie Lunday had a solid night for the Eagles with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals. Pappuleas added 11 points and
Grace Harder had six rebounds.
Â
The Eagles return to action Friday at Bushnell.
